No, me neither. I awoke this morning and waited a moment or two. The sun was streaming in through the bedroom window and the birds were twittering away. A good sign. I turned on the radio, just in case. But there was no sombre toned announcer saying “….and here are the news headlines from the BBC, today Sunday 22 May. The world has ended.” No, only a reference to a minor volcanic eruption in Iceland. Safe to get up.
Then I thought what about the followers of evangelist Harold Camping. How is their Sunday holding up. Are they celebrating or commiserating? These folk who have spent thousands of $ (I think most of his followers are American), sold homes and possessions following this man and this belief. Do they ask for a refund, sue for compensation and try to get their jobs back tomorrow or revisit the calculation and pray the world ends tomorrow.
Oh well, in the meantime guess we are at Doomsday plus one and counting. Have a nice day.
