The bottlenose dolphins of the Black Isle
The Black Isle is not an island at all, but a peninsular on the east coast of Scotland north of Inverness surrounded by the Cromarty Firth, the Beauly Firth and the Moray Firth. Some 23 miles long dotted with small towns and hamlets, castles, beaches and wonderful scenery it is particularly famous for dolphins. The bottlenose dolphins of the Moray Firth, a colony of about 150 which can often be seen at close quarters just off shore.
